happening on Arthur Verona street


The "I Love Bucharest" program started within "Your street is my street" event and unfolded on 5-6 May 2006 period on Arthur Verona street.  It was advertised by postcards realised by artists involved in the program. This postcards are on the sale at the Carturesti library.

General objectives

 

Creating opportunities for artists to explore another side of artistic expression:
Public Art, as there  were not many opportunities for  romanian artists to get involved in this direction because Romania does not have a tradition of public art or community art and neither is it studied in art colleges.The aim of this project is to inform, prepare and accomodate artists with working in public art projects.
The access of this wide public to the contemporary art in this way is meant to eliminate the borders between the exibition places and the public, wich would also create more opportunities for the artists to practice their art.
    Specific objectives:
During a 12 month' time, this project is aimed to inform and create workshops with romanian artists in order to realize future projects of public art.

2006-2007, Bucharest, Grigore Mora gallery.

Aims of the activities


- encouraging and developing communication between artists
- forming groups and work teams of discussions and activities
- presenting ideas of new projects to enchance the face of Bucharest
- promoting artists and their art, defining the steps to realise and develop a public art project
- the cultural rehabilitation of certain areas in Bucharest (living areas, public spaces)
- starting a campaign of information to emphasize the importance of aestethics of public spaces using documentation materials resulted from the research of the artists
- creation of an on-line forum on public art.
  Beneficiaries
the artists involved and concerned about the social role of art and those understanding the public art movement.They would be informed and supported through all the activities within the I Love Bucharest project.
- the public.The access of the wide public to the contemporary art, eliminating any barriers between the artists and the public.Informing the public on the possibilities of the regeneration of the urban space through exhibiting and promoting this project. 
  Results
The results will be presented in a series of exibitions in art galleries as well as in unconventional spaces (such as market places and metro-stations) and will present the basis of new projects as well.The artists' public art projects will be welcomed and there will be provided support for them.
